Kitchen Composter Program

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

Having a compost pile in your backyard is good for you but it is also good for the environment. It is not troublesome or time consuming if done right. There is also a misconception that compost is smelly and messy , but if the pile is put together correctly this is not the case.

There are some that would rather buy their fertilizer and soil amendments from their local garden store. I believe it is best to stay as natural as possible, stay away from chemical fertilizers. There really is no hassle in making a compost in your backyard from items that were destined for the garbage can.

When you start a kitchen composter program the materials that you will need and the items that you will use are free. The cost of chemical fertilizers and other items from the local gardening store are constantly on the rise. With a little bit of time and the right ingredients you can produce the best fertilizer known to man in your own backyard.

Compost will provide a lot more of the nutrients and minerals that your plants need. The effects of natural compost will last longer that store bought fertilizers.

Compost is also better for the soil structure. It will make the soil more resistant to erosion, improve its retention of water and in many cases it will prevent the soil from becoming compact. This factor can be important to large gardens as it will cut down on tilling time and reduce fuel that is used to operate machines.

The right composting technique can kill weeds, pests and other disease causing organisms. High temperature composting is the technique that I am referring to now. This technique involves some type of an enclosed structure, it will possibly spin to allow a small amount of aeration into the compost.

There are some studies that show that using compost can suppress the growth of diseases in crops. Crops grown over compost rich soils are resistant to pest or insect attacks. There are also observations that crops grown in a field with compost fertilizer can be stored longer.

Compost has a benefit for the environmentalist as well. Using compost along with the soil can build soil carbon which can eventually reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. It will take a lot of compost to have a positive effect on the greenhouse gases.

Starting a kitchen composter program is great for your wallet but It is good for the environment. It is recognized that compost works well as a antidote for soils that have a high toxic level from chemical fertilizers. There are some good reasons to motivate the start of a kitchen composter program.

Interior Design

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Redecorating your house isn’t all that easy and it gets even less so when you are stuck for ideas. The only way to really get over this problem in interior design ideas is to sit back, put your feet up and have a cup of coffee.

I’m not kidding, there’s really no substitute for getting a fresh perspective on things, like taking a break from everything for example. In the first place, you become more relaxed, and in the second place a steaming cup of tea or coffee is always welcome.

Once that you’re sitting down comfortably and are suitably relaxed, close your eyes and picture the room that you want to do up. Even if you are doing more than one room, it’s always a good idea to begin with one room first, working your way logically through to the next one and then the next one.

Also, before you start on your journey through the maze of interior design ideas, keep a notebook and pencil at hand so that you can jot down any inspirational ideas you have before you forget them.

So, just sit back and picture the room in your mind. Try and see it as you want it to look. And if that’s too difficult, then first try to replace separate bits and pieces. This is always a good way to start. If you’ve still got a mental drought on interior design ideas, then leaf through some interior design catalogues beforehand so that you have at least a working idea of what you can do to change the room.

The interior design catalogues need not be anything more impressive than your free local department store catalogue, turned to the home furnishing pages. Then again, nowadays you also get specialist stores which deal solely with the redecorating of your home. If you have the time, a quick trip down to one of these might also help to end the dearth on interior design ideas, and can possibly get you started.

These stores will have staged sets of many designs, giving you a good idea of what your room can look like. However, if you’re going to one of these places, be prepared to spend some money as no matter how tight a hand you keep on your pocket, you’ll always find something you want to buy.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but unless you watch out you could end up buying everything in the store. And without a proper idea of what you want the room to look like, this can turn out disastrous. Not to worry though, just keep your picture in mind, you can come back and make a start on redecorating your rooms the way you want.

Furthermore, now that you’ve managed to get at least some interior design ideas of what you want your rooms to look like, your whole redecorating project ought to be that much easier and that much more fun.

Calendars – Why They Can Be Slightly Out

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Thousands of years ago, ancient Greek astronomers calculated that the track of the Earth’s axis is constantly, even if in a very slow way, shifting in a uniform pattern. The change is very similar to the manner a spinning top slowly leans one way and then another as it slows down. It is a wobble that occurs as its axis changes direction.

This peculiar movement of the planet is owing to a couple of factors, the most important of which is something called ‘precession’. Precession arises from the fact that the Earth is not a perfect sphere. It is in fact about twenty-seven miles longer around the Equator that it is around the Poles. The Earth then is oblate, or fat around the middle like middle-aged spread, but it is due to the spinning not to its age.

If you picture the Earth with its Poles off centre. Then rotate that image and you will find that any point, except the exact centre of the axis, will travel in a circle. But very, very gradually. So gradually that it takes 26,000 years to travel full circle and get back to where it started from.

This point then, any point you choose, is very gradually changing its position in relation to the stars because the axis is rotating too. The result of this is that, what we call the North Star (officially called Polaris, which is in fact one degree off true North) will not be over our North Pole one day. In fact, by about 15,000 AD, Vega will be almost above the North Pole, although it will be about four degrees off true North. But even this will not endure, and by 28,000 AD, Polaris will be back above where it is nowadays.

One of the effects of the precession is that seasons change. They modify the dates that they take place, so that Summer could come earlier or later. The amazing thing about our calendar is that it is corrected for that (with the leap year). If it were not, the vernal or Spring equinox would move over 13,000 years from March 21st to September 21st., which is the date of the autumnal equinox, precisely half a year later.

It is for this reason that the precession of the Earth is generally referred to as the “Precession of the Equinoxes”. Although the precession of the equinoxes is very lengthy, it can be easily seen. The correct year of 325.25 days is the length of time from one vernal equinox to the next vernal equinox, however, it takes 20 minutes and 24 seconds longer for the Sun to appear in exactly the same position with relation to the stars behind it over the same period. It is for this reason that accurate star maps have to be stamped with the exact time and date to which they relate.

Basic Tennis Psychology (Part 1)

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

Tennis psychology is nothing more than understanding the workings of your opponent’s mind, and assessing the effect of your own game on his/her mental viewpoint and also understanding the psychological effects resulting from the different external causes on your own mind.

However, it is also true that you no one can be a successful psychologist of others without first understanding his own psychology. Therefore, you must study the effect on yourself of the same thing happening under various circumstances. This is because people react differently in different moods and under different circumstances.

You have to realize the effect on your game of the resulting annoyance, pleasure, bewilderment, or whatever other form your reaction is. Does it increase your efficiency? If so, go for it, but never offer it to your opponent. Does it rob you of concentration? If so, either remove the cause, but if that isn’t possible, try to ignore it.

Once you have accurately judged your own reaction to conditions, observe your opponents in order to determine their characters. Similar characters react similarly, and you may judge men of your own sort by yourself. Opposite temperaments you must seek to compare with people whose reactions you know.

Someone who can control his/her own psychology has an excellent chance of determining those of another for the minds works along definite lines of thought and can be studied. One may only control one’s own mental processes after studying them meticulously.

The regular, unemotional baseline player is rarely a keen thinker. If he were, he would not adhere to the baseline. The physical appearance of a player is usually a pretty clear indicator of his/her type of mind. The stolid, easy-going player, who usually displays the baseline strategy, does so because he hates to stir up his/her slow mind to work out a safe strategy of reaching the net.

Then there is the other type of baseline player, who would prefer to remain on the back of the court while directing an attack intending to disrupt up your game. He is a very dangerous player, and a deep, keen thinking opponent. He achieves his/her results by mixing up his/her length and direction and worrying you with the variance of his/her game. He is a good psychologist.

The first kind of tennis player mentioned above merely hits the ball without much thought about what he is really up to, while the latter always has a solid, thought-out strategy and sticks to it.

What makes a hip hop song? It has basically two parts – the beats and the vocals that are composed of several tracks.

When creating hip hop beats, you must fully understand what a “beat” is. It has many elements but for better understanding, just think about it – it is the whole song without the vocals. The rest of the elements are MIDI drum patterns, bassline, orchestration, dubs and snips.

The MIDI drum patter is composed of the entire drum tracks and it is also called as drum loops. Bassline however refer to MIDI sequence and the dubs and snips focus on the accent and characters. The supporting orchestration could be synth pads, string sections or horns.

The beat can be any length of your choice. The shortest one is composed of eight bars and it could be in a looping order. The longer ones however basically have verse and chorus along with introduction, break and ending. The introduction follows a classic pop form of eight bars as well. The ending usually fades out. This structure can be modified from time to time.

The vocal tracks of the hip hop song have main vocal, second vocal, background vocals and overdubbed vocals. There are different tools that you can use to make your own beat. One of them is the hardware samplers which is the basis of older beat construction.

Software synthesizers are also introduced for bassline and orchestration accuracy. Vintage synths has been recognized for being a great resource in this field. Since there are many synthesizers to choose from, it really depends on the artist or user.
